Meet Astronaut Christina Koch, Who Will Become The First Woman To Go To Moon

Christina Koch is a 43-year old American astronaut who will become the first woman to go to the moon in 2023. Her journey begins with an international space station flight through Russia, China, and Japan.

The mission will last for about 11 days and she will be joined by two other astronauts. Koch is an experienced pilot who joined NASA in 1997. As part of her training, she has spent more than 438 hours in the cockpit of a plane.

As she prepares for this monumental journey, many are wondering how well society would accept a woman in space as well as if it is safe enough for women to be in space at all.

On May 17th, 2018, NASA announced that Christina Koch will be the first woman to go to the moon. She will be part of a team of four astronauts who are going on a 6-month mission.

This is a momentous occasion in space exploration as it marks the first time women will go into space. Women have been making significant contributions to aeronautics and astronautics since the 1900s. However, being a woman in these fields was rare until 1975 when Sally Ride became America’s first female astronaut.
