Big Brands Are Banned Around India’s First Apple Retail Store

India’s first Apple Retail Store Radius is on a mission to change the way people think about luxury brands. Soon after opening in Bengaluru, the store banned many of the well-known brands including Gucci and Louis Vuitton for being too “luxurious”.

The store is currently banning any brands that are found to be too expensive or too luxurious and wants to focus on creating a comfortable shopping experience for its audience. It also has plans of introducing affordable lines from smaller, lesser-known companies as well.

The economic conditions in India have been going through a rough patch, making it more difficult for businesses to operate and thrive in this country. With this ban, Radius hopes that their customers can enjoy an affordable shopping experience at their store and help promote some of these smaller brands in India.

The Mumbai Central mall has a long-term contract with Apple to make their Apple Store the most enticing in the city. With this partnership, the store has been able to remain one of the most popular in Mumbai while attracting customers from across India.

This deal is not uncommon among shopping malls and luxury retailers. They all benefit from advertising and promotion partners like Apple who can help them get noticed and eventually increase their sales.

Apple has a new store that it is opening in San Francisco on March of this year. To prevent them from competing with their store in the area, they have ordered that no other technology company can open an electronic store near their location.

The company did this because they are worried about not having enough customers to visit their store and its competition taking away their market share.

In a recent study, 22 businesses were reportedly not allowed to operate in China. Most notably, there are companies that are banned from doing business in the country like Amazon and Facebook. Businesses that are not allowed to operate in China include LG, Microsoft, Sony and Twitter among others. The reason these countries were blacklisted is because they purchase goods or services from the Chinese military or government affiliates. These types of transactions contribute to the country’s high-tech industry which has helped them improve their economy over time.

The list includes companies such as Apple, Dell and Blackberry as well. These tech giants have also been running into trouble with China in the past since they do not always comply with Chinese cybersecurity laws and regulations.
